OCD and Smoke Alarms: A Humorous Take on Compulsive Checking

So there I am, obsessively checking the oven, like,

 ‘Did I turn it off? I think I did, but what if I didn’t?’ 

Finally, I ask my smoke alarm, 

‘Hey, is the oven alright?’ 

And it goes, 

‘Beep! Yes, all good! That’s my job!’

So I keep thinking, 

‘Did I really turn it off? What if I didn’t?’
I look up at the smoke alarm again, asking, 

‘We’re good, right? No fires?’

 And it just keeps going,
‘Beep! Beep!’
It’s like, come on, mate! You’re supposed to be my calm reassurance! 

But nope,
it’s going off like it’s got its own OCD  —starting to think it’s the one who needs ERP!
